GLACIERS EXPLAINED: Science behind the melting ice
This Info Sheet is based on the “Glaciers Explained” webinar with Vanda Bonardo, Miha Pavšek and Marco Giardino.
Glaciers are sensitive indicators of climate change. The idea of Alps without glaciers is no longer a distant, hypothetical scenario. With current warming trends a near total disappearence of glaciers in the Alps is increasingly likely within this century. This info sheet contains the most important facts about these melting ice giants.
This publication was produced as part of the Erasmus+ Project "Young Glacier Voices". The project aims to make the loss of glaciers tangible and pass on climate knowledge, while encouraging young people to raise their voices for glaciers and climate protection. It is cofunded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme.
